"A little
'twist' if you promote
your MLM business online"
How
you plan to utilize the Internet and have it fit into your overall sponsoring
strategy will mean the difference between it working for you and having it chew you up and
spit you out. Lasting residual income in Network Marketing - contrary to all
the hype out there - is built on the personal relationship and trust between two
individuals. If you think you can build an MLM empire strictly online that will
produce money for life, without building any relationship or never plan to have any
contact with your downline... it's time to wake up and smell the coffee.
Now that doesn't
mean that the Internet can't be used as a tool to help you. But you'll need to be
able to overcome some inherent problems with online MLM. First, there are simply too
many people trying to sell their MLM programs on the net (I'm told it's the second
biggest item on the Internet today)... so the market is getting saturated. Which
causes a lot of eager, inexperienced people to promote their MLM on the net the
wrong way and angering a lot of Internet users... giving MLM a bad name.
The next big
consideration with online MLM'ing is that you lose the personal relationship. It is
very difficult to build trust and create a bonding, long-term profitable
relationship online. Nothing will ever take the place of the relationship aspect of
Network Marketing (just ask some of the people who have been in AMWAY for 20+ years
without making a dime - studies show they stay because of the people and the friendships
they have created). No matter what tools you have (or don't have), the power of Network
Marketing will always be in your personal relationships.
You may get a
prospect to join your opportunity even if you don't have (or haven't
yet built) personal relationship with them... but try to get them to stay loyal and
actually go to work. The chances are about 999 out of 1,000 that they will be
dead-wood, doing NOTHING whatsoever! And, be sure that they will quickly jump ship
from your network into the next greatest MLM hype deal that comes along promising
something for nothing.
So, should we give
up on promoting our MLM on the Internet?
No... but you have
got to use it the right way. Your online efforts should be the first step
in creating a bonding relationship... and realize that it's just the first
step. Think of the Internet - NOT as a sponsoring method - but as a way to
introduce you to people that you can add to your circle of influence. Corey Rudl
(the owner of The Internet Marketing Center and a savvy Internet marketing genius)
shared with me an excellent way (which I "tweaked" up with a little
posture-power) you can use Opt-in, targeted email lists to do this...

Notice that MLM or
network marketing is not mentioned at all in this teaser email. And if you follow-up
with a detailed letter, make sure you don't mention MLM until a quarter or half way
through it... after they've had a chance to see the benefits and potential of
your product or service and profit potential. Another key to this teaser email is that it
makes the reader think that they might not be qualified to join this elite team.
